Longlands Care Home
Longlands Care Home is a purpose built two storey Home situated in Middlesbrough on the A172 and is within walking distance of a regular bus route (see details below). It is ideally located near the town centre, the surrounding community and local shops.
The Home has 43 single bedrooms all with en-suite facilities, offering a high standard of care with all care staff NVQ/QCF qualified or working towards this award in Health and Social Care. The Home has 2 dining areas and 3 lounges including a conservatory that overlooks the gardens. All areas are tastefully furnished as well as being equipped to care for individual needs.
The home also provides respite care and day care and has pleasant gardens to the rear and side. There is an ample private car park at the entrance to the Home.
Accommodation & Facilities
The accommodation is divided over 2 floors with a passenger lift available to access the first floor. There are communal lounges and dining areas situated on both the ground and first floor. All our rooms have telephone points and en-suite bathrooms.
There is a large conservatory overlooking well maintained, established gardens.
The home offers a personal laundry service for all residents operated by our own fully trained staff. We also have has a visiting Hairdresser who attends on a weekly basis. An Optician, Dentist and Chiropodist are also regular visitors to the home (though charges may apply).
Regional Support Manager
Julie began her career at our neighbouring Roseleigh Care Home as a Junior Carer in 2000. She has held 2 Deputy Manager positions within the Company, initially at Longlands in 2002 and then Roseleigh in 2005. She was appointed Manager of Longlands in 2011. As well as managing the home she has worked to achieve her level 4 Management award and level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management. Julie was promoted to Regional Support Manager in May 2019 for Longlands Care Home and Roseleigh Care Home.
Tina has worked in the care industry for over 10 years. Tina began her career at Longlands in 2009 and was promoted to Deputy Manager in 2011. Tina has worked to achieve her level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management. Tina was promoted to Manager in May 2019 for Longlands Care Home.
Nikki has worked in the care industry since 2006. Nikki started her career at Longlands in 2016 as a senior carer. Nikki has achieved her BTEC level 3 diploma in Management. Nikki was promoted to Deputy Manager in May 2019 at Longlands Care Home.
The care team is made up of Care Assistants and Senior Care Assistants. We recognise that our team of Carers are the most important people to residents and they are dedicated and work tirelessly to provide the highest quality of care for our residents.
The Administrator provides support to the manager and other employees to ensure the smooth running of the home. She is your first port of call for any financial queries and you can always be sure to find a friendly face in Reception.
We currently employ 2 Activities Co-ordinators who provide a wide range of activities designed to encourage group involvement but also to meet individual resident needs.
We have an excellent trained catering team offering extensive menus of freshly home-cooked meals and we also offer varied menus and cater for all our residents individual needs.
Housekeeping & Laundry
The housekeeping and Laundry team are committed to providing a high standard of service, taking great care to ensure a comfortable and clean environment for residents.
We have an on-site handyman who maintains the day to day upkeep and decoration of the home, maintaining regular safety checks and to help with furniture arranging and putting up pictures etc. The gardens are maintained regularly by an excellent gardening team.
Our fully trained catering staff offer an extensive menu of freshly home-cooked meals which cater for individual needs.We have a 5 star food hygiene rating with Middlesbrough Borough Council – ★★★★★. Our attentive staff will ensure that every individual resident has an enjoyable dining experience in a relaxed atmosphere.
We employ 2 Activities Co-ordinators providing a wide range of activities designed to encourage group involvement but also to meet individual resident needs. Activities include regular day trips and outings to the local theatre and parks and pamper evenings. In-house activities are available such as bingo, dominoes, reminiscence, videos and gentle exercise classes as well as coffee mornings.
We hold regular fund raising events in the home and actively encourage involvement from families, the local community and schools. We also hold quarterly meetings with the residents to discuss up and coming events.
Residential Care Homes are inspected on an annual basis by Middlesbrough Council, Department of Social Care, which operate a “Quality Star Rating” system. Unannounced inspections take place and the Quality measurement Review evaluates care homes against criteria such as the quality and performance of the service, and the extent to which continuous improvement is taking place.
Longlands is one of the highest star rated homes in Middlesbrough as rated by Middlesbrough Borough Council.
